REFRACTION is a signature editorial fine-art series conceived and produced by VanderRose Studios, bringing together photographers, models, fashion, hair and makeup artists, and creative collaborators to explore the relationship between light, landscape, reflection, and human connection.
Created and creatively directed by Sarah Navarre, the series began with original mirror gowns designed to interact with Utah's extraordinary landscapes. Inspired by the way light bends through a prism to reveal colors already present but unseen, REFRACTION explores what changes when light, environment, art, and individual perspective become collaborators in the image-making process.
Following its inaugural production at Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats, selected REFRACTION imagery and original wardrobe will be presented in a multi-month Artist in Residence exhibition at the historic Asher Adams Hotel in downtown Salt Lake City from January through March 2027.
The exhibition is part of a larger REFRACTION journey spanning editorial production, publication in VanderRose Magazine, public exhibition, and an evolving annual signature series celebrating Utah through editorial fine art.
